Anjenaya Yoga Therapy

While Yoga can hold the key to your health, it can also leave your muscles feeling so sore that you need to soak in an Epsom salt bath for hours- or better yet, have a massage. Thus it comes to no surprise that someone has come up with an idea to incorporate self-massage and yoga into the same sitting. In Nadi balls, a new DVD put out by Anjenaya Yoga Therapy, you are led through a fusion of yoga and massage technique set to a Krishna Das soundtrack.
A warm and likeable Jenay Martin leads a thrity-five minute heated yoga practice (that takes place on a beach as well as in a yoga studio), followed by fifteen minutes of Nadi Ball therapy. Nadi Balls are slightly smaller and firmer than tennis balls; they are pvc free and extremely durable. Nadi Ball therapy utilizes self-acupressure and deep tissue massage to release tension in the body. Using two Nadi Balls (that come with the DVD), you are guided through different
exercises that entail placing the balls under pressure points in the body. Nadi Balls, when used in the intended way, can help to unblock the nadis (a network of over 72,000 energy channels
in the body), and free the body from unwanted blockages that can contribute to disease.
The DVD includes a section on breathing exercises like kapalabhati and nadi sodhana as well as a guided meditation with a final prayer. While the DVD is easy to follow, it would be helpful to have some yoga experience before attempting to follow some of these exercises. Nadi Balls, however, are an invaluable tool for everyone and anyone; they are amazingly beneficial and definitely worth checking out!
